Social Signals

Assured SEO Likes

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a tactic of several moves to rank your blogs or websites. Some moves that work well for website A can also hurt Website B. There are some universal aspects that work for all web pages. They can assure short, medium, and long-term success.

But boy, is it worth it when you get your social network strategy right. I mean, if you’ve ever had one of your posts picked up on the social media and experienced that leap in visitors, you know what a buzz it is. There’s nothing quite like it. And all because people had posted links to your quality content on social networks for others to enjoy and Google rewarded you with a boost in the SERPS.

Assured Social Signals

User Reviews – Reviews from Google+, Yelp, Twitter and other sites are all signals that will help your local business website rank higher. When relevant, ask your customers if they’re satisfied with your business and get them to write a positive review for your site. Don’t rely on customers randomly leaving reviews because very few of them will do so.

At Assured SEO we have been studying the social cues that we transmit to others. What we have discovered is that we communicate with others using much more than words. What we are trying to communicate comes across in our gestures, expressions, and the tone that we use.

As part of the relentless quest to provide the user with quality relevant search results, Google and Bing have added the parameter of Social Signals Service to their search algorithms. This means that such factors as the volume of users who tweet your posts doesn’t just give you a warm feeling; it can also influence how google ranks you. And the same for Facebook. Digg and others.

Consensus is still not in sight and after having looked at both sides of the argument, I see why SEO’s struggle to come to terms with this question. The truth most probably lies in the middle. Social signals do improve rankings, but good rankings also improve frequency of social signal. Give and take. SEO needs social media to spread the word just like social media needs SEO to push good quality content to the top so that there is something that can be posted, shared and liked. So – after all – there might just be a correlation, maybe even a causation.

If your business has a physical office or store, it’ll be of immense benefit to build a local SEO campaign. Previously you could just throw up a web page and throw some links at it for it to rank. Traffic is really what it’s about on the internet.
